{"id":1013,"date":"2015-12-09T08:17:11","date_gmt":"2015-12-09T08:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fulneck.org.uk\/?page_id=1013"},"modified":"2024-03-27T11:10:21","modified_gmt":"2024-03-27T11:10:21","slug":"organ","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.fulneck.org.uk\/?page_id=1013","title":{"rendered":"Organ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Fulneck Moravian Church organ was originally built and installed\u00a0by Johannes Snetzler in 1748.\u00a0He was born in Schaffhausen in Switzerland in 1710, and\u00a0trained with the firm of Egedacher in Passau before moving to London in 1741.\u00a0The extensive correspondence between Snetzler and\u00a0the community survives in the church archives. The organ cost \u00a3140 and the work took four months.<\/p>\n<p>In 1802 the organ was moved to its present position in the balcony, and over the years there have been several alterations. In 1929 an almost complete rebuild took place, carried out by the Bramley firm of JJ Binns. The organ\u00a0was probably the last upon which founder James Jepson Binns worked. The cost was \u00a3745 and the result was\u00a0a\u00a0mostly new organ in the original case. It is thought that the case is the earliest surviving Snetzler case in existence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fulneck.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_20170202_163446170-1280x960.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-1425\" src=\"http:\/\/fulneck.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_20170202_163446170-1280x960-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 2016 a major renovation was carried out by Wood of Huddersfield. The organ was brought to modern concert pitch and can now be used to accompany other instruments.
